Built by someone who has carried the number, built the process, and done the work.

Initialized Growth was founded by Calvin Patterson. His experience spans early-stage GTM, enterprise sales, sales leadership, and hands-on small-business growth infrastructure — revenue problems at multiple stages of company maturity, and the foundational growth systems founder-led businesses often lack.

Enterprise revenue thinking. Founder-level practicality.

The same problem, at very different stages.

Calvin kept seeing the same problem at very different stages of company maturity. Early-stage startups needed to turn founder-led selling into a repeatable GTM motion. Founder-led small businesses often needed something even more fundamental: a website, search visibility, analytics, lead capture, follow-up, and the revenue systems that make growth possible in the first place.

Large companies can hire dedicated sales, marketing, revenue operations, web, analytics, automation, and consulting teams. Founder-led businesses face many of the same underlying growth problems without any of those resources.

Different businesses need different levels of sophistication, but the underlying problem is similar: growth breaks when the systems behind it are disconnected, invisible, manual, or entirely dependent on the founder.

Initialized Growth was built around solving that problem at the right level of complexity for each business.

The gap

Large companies buy the teams. Founder-led businesses get the same problems without them.

Initialized Growth brings sophisticated revenue thinking down to the appropriate level of complexity for the business — no more, no less.

From psychology to revenue.

Calvin holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bloomsburg University. It turned out to be unusually practical preparation for revenue work: sales is the study of how people make decisions, and most growth systems fail when they ignore the human on the other side of them. The psychology background shows up in how he listens for underlying motivations, asks better discovery questions, and designs processes around how buyers and owners actually behave — not how a flowchart says they should.

Where it applies

  • Understanding how people make decisions
  • Listening for the motivation behind the stated problem
  • Asking better questions in discovery
  • Buyer behavior and communication
  • Designing processes that account for human behavior

Growth systems are technical, but customers are still human.

Building the motion before there is a playbook.

Calvin has worked across multiple early-stage startups, with a 3x founding GTM background. Early-stage revenue work means creating the system while running it: targeting the right accounts, finding the message, building pipeline discipline, and turning individual selling activity into something another person could eventually repeat.

Early-stage work

  • Building pipeline from scratch
  • Founder-led sales
  • Creating sales process where little existed
  • Account targeting and messaging
  • Discovery and outbound
  • CRM discipline and pipeline management
  • Revenue forecasting
  • Moving from individual selling activity to repeatable systems

Proof point — Concert

40+ customers in roughly 13 months

At Concert, Calvin helped build the early sales motion and was part of the growth journey that ultimately led to the company's acquisition.

He has also run marathons — relevant only in that building early revenue is mostly persistence, consistency, and comfort with long-term effort.

How this applies to startups

The other side of the problem.

Calvin has also sold into larger organizations and led GTM at the leadership level — complex buying committees, technical and executive stakeholders, forecasting discipline, and process design at scale. He has seen both sides of the problem: what sophisticated revenue organizations eventually become, and what early businesses look like before those systems exist. That range is the point — it is what makes right-sizing possible.

Enterprise and leadership experience

  • Enterprise selling and complex buying committees
  • Selling to technical and executive buyers, including CISOs, CIOs, and CTOs
  • Forecasting and sales process design
  • GTM leadership, including Head of GTM at ComplianceCow
  • Advisory and GTM work with startups
  • RevGenius community involvement and mentorship

The tools change. The systems thinking does not.

A private practice does not need the same stack as a SaaS startup. But it still needs a reliable way to do the fundamentals — and most founder-led service businesses are missing at least a few of them.

What every small business still needs

  • Get found by the right people
  • Explain the offer clearly
  • Capture interest when it arrives
  • Follow up reliably
  • Measure demand
  • Understand where customers come from
  • Plan revenue
  • Improve the system over time

How Calvin thinks about growth.

01

Growth is a system, not a channel.

02

Start with the business problem, not the software.

03

Build the simplest system capable of solving the problem.

04

Strategy should connect directly to implementation.

05

Every lead should have a next step.

06

Measurement should change decisions.

07

Automate repetition, not relationships.

08

Complexity should be earned.
